Congratulations Stacey

JMP Solicitors are celebrating the appointment of Stacey Jolly as a Solicitor.

Stacey joined the firm in July 2010 and qualified this month after the successful completion of her training contract.

Stacey came in to Law from a commercial background having started professional life as a Commercial Management Trainee at Marks and Spencer, she then moved to the Pharmaceutical Industry Sector where she held a number of positions in Sales, Marketing and Business Management. In her 16 years, she worked both in the UK and Internationally.

Since joining the Legal Profession, Stacey has used her previous skills and knowledge to apply practical solutions to legal questions. Her knowledge of the NHS, Pharmaceutical Industry and anatomy and physiology learned from her previous career, has led her to notable successes in bringing several claims against the NHS which had previously been rejected by other firms.

Commenting on her appointment as a solicitor, Stacey said “I am absolutely delighted to have qualified at such a time where training contracts are extremely hard to come by. The directors have been so supportive of me and my training and I am really glad and grateful to be part of such a great firm”.

Changes in the law expected for prenuptial agreements

In this country, unlike America, prenuptial agreements have not held any authority in law. This is despite a legal ruling in the Supreme Court in 2010 that Judges may take them into account at their discretion when considering financial applications with Divorce Proceedings.
However proposals which are expected to attract cross party political support are to be published later this month alongside a draft bill which will, if approved, enshrine prenuptial agreements in Law.
For the first time engaged couples will be allowed to ring fence certain items that they will keep should their forth coming marriage end in divorce. If this proposal is made into law then the prenuptial agreement will become an important document, almost an insurance against divorce!
It is important to note that it is not always just the mans wealth that needs protecting but the woman’s too.
If you would like advice on prenuptial agreements please contact Neil Remnant at JMP Solicitors on 01476 561415 or via email on nremnant@jmp-solicitors.com

Ten year anniversary for Christine

Senior Associate Solicitor, Christine Bowerman recently celebrated ten years at Grantham based law firm, JMP Solicitors.

Christine joined the firm on 11th November 2003 after qualifying as a solicitor and has since then developed specific expertise in complex personal injury claims including serious groin injuries, head injuries and clinical negligence cases which include misdiagnosis of cancer and negligent dental treatment.

Christine has listed a number of significant cases and client testimonials on her own profile page spanning her ten years at JMP Solicitors.

Commenting on her ten years at JMP Solicitors Christine said "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with JMP Solicitors, my role has grown from strength to strength as has JMP's reputation. It has been interesting and sometimes tragic dealing with the more harrowing matters, but in all cases I have sought the best outcome for my clients and on the whole I believe that I have achieved this. I consider myself to be approachable and friendly, preferring my clients to feel comfortable in discussing  their concerns with me and not to feel intimidated as some solicitors can make their clients feel".

JMP as a practice encourages this friendly approach and it has resulted in us being instructed on further matters for our clients and their friends and families, not just personal injury, but employment issues, commercial issues, wills and probate to name just a few areas of law we cover.

JMP has moved to a more central location and so we will open on Saturdays by prior appointment in order to see clients and potential clients who cannot contact us during the working week and so hopefully this will be more convenient for them.
